I can’t say it enough—consistent photo quality matters. Your photos are a huge part of your online presence. Your website and social media are your portfolio and your work is judged by potential in seconds. If the lighting, angles, or editing style are inconsistent across your projects, it can distract from the design itself. Or worse, it may suggest that your actual work is inconsistent too.
That’s why I love working with interior designers like Rebecca from Maison Ellie, who truly understand the value of cohesive visuals. We’ve worked together over the last few years, and her website portfolio is a perfect example of how consistent, high-quality photography reinforces brand identity and builds trust.
This recent shoot featured two teen bedroom makeovers and a rec room redesign. First up: a beautifully curated teen girl’s room. Instead of leaning into the typical pink-and-ruffles style, Rebecca opted for a more mature and serene space with just the right touch of youthfulness.
Soft blue tones appear throughout—bedding, picture frames, even a fun faux fur sphere pillow on her reading chair in the corner. A unique design detail? Wallpaper on the ceiling. I found it drawing my eye upward while shooting, and I believe it encourages viewers (and future clients) to appreciate the full scope of the design.

Before we jump to the next bedroom, I have to highlight the rec room—a space designed for both teens and guests. With sage green and camel tones, the room feels cozy and inviting. Pops of black make the house feel modern — which is absolutely is.
The room is packed with personalized touches that reflect the clients’ interests: surf flags, sports memorabilia, dog-themed art prints, and more.
The space is intentionally divided:
Layered textures—velvet, wool, plaid, stripes—add even more visual interest. The two-tone linear rug helps tie everything together.

Now for a personal favourite—the teen boy’s room. This space keeps things cool, calm, and yet playful, with a colour palette of sage green, dark blue, and grey. It’s soft without being sleepy, and fun without being loud—completely on-brand for Maison Ellie.
The standout feature? A basketball and volleyball installation above the bed. Paired with matte black hardware, this entire room is clean, stylish, and tailored to the teen’s personality.

Interior design is all about intentional choices—colour, texture, mood, and layout. Photography should reflect that same level of care. If you’re investing so much in your work, don’t let it fall flat online with inconsistent or low-quality photos. Capturing that story through professional photography is what helps bring it to life—and builds a consistent, trustworthy brand presence.
