Part of photographing interiors is really about understanding the designer’s style and what matters most to them in the spaces they create. In this playroom designed by Rebecca of Maison Ellie, the colour-driven design takes the lead. The soft palette of blues, pinks, and purples shows off Rebecca’s signature touch: fun, functional, and full of personality. She has a real gift for creating spaces that feel totally personalized for the child who lives there and designing everything so practically for the family. From the smallest styling elements to the larger furniture pieces, this room is a great example of how colour-driven design can feel thoughtful and balanced.

Let’s start with a few wide shots of the space. You’ll instantly notice how the soft, calming colours set the tone—blues, pinks, and purples are layered in a way that feels playful. Grey accents in the curtains, storage baskets, and wallpapered feature wall ground the space and keep things feeling cohesive. Warm wood tones in the play table and shelving add a natural, cozy element. The soft blue (a Maison Ellie signature) pairs so nicely with pops of bold purple like the child-sized chair and matching baskets. The entire room is thriving on colour-driven design that’s still comfortable and kid-friendly.

Pivoting to the other side of the room, the colour story continues through smart storage choices. Built-in shelving, a mid-height white cupboard (perfectly sized for little hands), and open shelves keep everything organized without losing style. Between the built-ins, a soft blue-framed cork bulletin board adds a gentle pop of colour, while just below the window, a chalkboard creates a cozy art zone where creativity can truly shine. Even these practical pieces blend seamlessly into the room’s colour-driven design, showing how every detail was thoughtfully chosen.

Lastly, take a look at the smaller details that pull the whole space together. It truly takes an expert to layer this many tones into one room without it feeling overbearing. I love capturing those thoughtful touches that were clearly chosen with care: the whimsical fairy dress-up area, the soft pink floor cushions, and even the child-sized gardening tools that perfectly match the palette. These show how a well-executed colour-driven design can be playful and polished at the same time.

Colour-driven design tells a visual story, and my goal is always to make sure that story shines through in every photo. This gallery gives Rebecca a full set of images to use across her website, social platforms, or portfolio, highlighting her talent for creating vibrant, functional spaces that reflect both her personal style and her clients’ needs. If you’re a designer looking to showcase your own colour-driven design work, I’d love to help bring it to life. Don’t hesitate to reach out about booking a shoot!
