From heartfelt notes for their guests to the toasts full of tears and laughter, it was a day filled with genuine love and emotion. The rain couldn’t keep away the colourful spring vibes and this couple filled their wedding with flowers and pastel candles, bringing together their vision of a vibrant, colourful spring wedding at Le Belvédère, one of Ottawa’s top wedding venues.
After the final touches on hair and makeup, the bridesmaids got a sneak peek at the personalized wedding newspaper. “The Wedding Post” was full of crosswords, memories, and photos celebrating the couple, adding a special touch to the day. There were definitely a couple happy tears from the bride’s mom and sister when they saw her in her wedding dress, creating some of my favourite candid shots of the day. Then, it was time to step outside and pop some champagne, kicking off the celebration for their colourful spring wedding at Le Belvédère.
Just down the road from the bride, the groom was getting ready in what Le Belvédère calls “the Guest House,” a cozy country house. With help from the entire family, the groom put on his tuxedo, which featured embroidered initials on the cuffs. When the groom’s mom and twin sister arrived to see how everything was going, tears were inevitable. It was the perfect start to their colourful spring wedding at Le Belvédère. Another favourite candid moment of mine. This day is full of those.
Their first look got cheers from friends sneaking a peek from the terrace above after they shared a few quiet moments together, soaking in their first looks at each other on their wedding day.
After the first look, we took family photos on the lookout balcony and then snuck away for some shots of just the couple by the trees, with the incredible, cliffside view behind them that Le Belvédère is renowned for.
This colourful spring wedding at Le Belvédère didn’t disappoint, especially with that stunning backdrop behind the gazebo where the ceremonies are held.
Guests arrived, catching up with friends and family, and took their seats under umbrellas provided by the venue. The bride’s brother officiated the ceremony and after saying their “I dos,” they were ready to celebrate, have a drink, and enjoy some great food!
This wedding was bursting with colour—not just from the florals, but from the guests who understood the assignment for this colourful spring wedding at Le Belvédère. Capturing an ombre dress shot to highlight all the stunning shades was a must.
This colourful spring wedding at Le Belvédère had all the emotions! As guests made their way to their seats for the reception, personalized notes were waiting for them at each place. The photos, along with the intricately written messages and stories, made for the best reactions from everyone. It was such a thoughtful touch to the celebration.
While everyone was going through their cards, enjoying a drink and sharing congratulations, the couple slipped out the back for a few blue hour portraits.
With the speeches wrapped up and the cake cut, guests lined the pathway to the gazebo, where venue staff handed out sparklers. As the sparklers lit up, the newlyweds made their way down the aisle, greeted by the bride’s sister and her husband, who performed Lifetime by Justin Bieber for their first dance.
“Sonia and her assistant Rachel were a dream team from the start. Their kindness and professionalism shone through from our very first meeting. Sonia asked all the right questions to ensure we’d be a great match, and it was clear she wanted our experience to be as personal as it was professional.
When it came to our engagement shoot and wedding day, Sonia was incredibly fast at delivering sneak peeks. Her documentary style of photography was exactly what we were looking for—she captured every important moment as it naturally unfolded, without ever over staging or posing us. The authenticity of her photos blew us away.
As a couple who’s usually camera-shy, Sonia was able to make use feel very comfortable, providing just the right amount of direction to help us relax, without making us feel over-posed.
Sonia was not only a fantastic photographer but also a great help with our timeline, ensuring we didn’t miss a single photo we wanted. From the get-go, she invested time in getting to know us, making the whole experience feel incredibly personalized.
We can’t recommend Sonia enough for anyone looking for authentic, documentary-style wedding photography.”
