Disclaimer – I’ve never ordered from any of these jewelers because while I do have a unique engagement ring , I do not recommend the shop that we purchased it from as their customer service was not great. The kite-shaped salt and pepper diamond actually fell out a few weeks after I got it (thankfully I found it right away!) and it was a hassle getting it fixed. So I cannot recommend based on personal experience, only what I have read and heard.
Now that that’s out of the way — I want you to know I see you, you’re not like anyone else and you have unique (obviously in the best way) taste, so why would you want to have the same ring as everyone else? If you’re anything like I was pre-engagement, you know you’re going to be getting engaged soon and you know you want a unique ring, but you don’t know exactly what that means and you want to give your boyfriend some direction so you love the engagement ring you’ll be wearing for a very long time.
So you’ve done some searching on Pinterest and you’re narrowing it down. Here’s where I come in and show you where you can actually buy these unique engagement rings.
For my vintage girlies: Tippy Taste, New York, NY @tippytaste on Instagram, has an heirloom collection that updates every season and man, these things are showstoppers. Like, I would have one of these on every finger if I could, but I wouldn’t even need to because just a single one will dazzle you. Check them out if you’re into the vintage engagement ring look.
Point No Point studio has a huge selection of black diamond engagement rings and salt and pepper diamonds (personal fav). These unique stones matched with some tiny little diamonds around them are absolutely stunning in my opinion. They ethically source their stones which is another huge bonus for anyone who’s seen Blood Diamond. If you haven’t, it’s a great movie!
Maybe you’re super adventurous and are outdoors CONSTANTLY and just want something that can get a bit beat up. (Or maybe this is the perfect excuse to buy a second ring, yeah?!)
Enso & Qalo are two different shops that offer silicone rings to hold the place of your wedding rings while you’re out portaging the Muskokas, rock climbing the cliffs of Milton, or surfing the great lakes. Enso offers a unique birthstone collection, matching the colour of your ring to your birthstone. Qalo has some different patterns and even a bunch of dog ID tags if you want your pup to match.
Do you have a family gemstone that you want to use? Go CUSTOM. Here’s a local spot for you that does great jewelry work. Twain Designs Toronto, ON.
Capucinne Jewelry is based in Europe, but they ship worldwide (and apparently pretty quickly, too). These guys have absolutely stunning pieces and if you’re serious about getting a unique engagement ring, you’ll want to check them out. On Insta at @capucinnejewelry.
Capucinne Jewelry also has raw diamond rings if you’re into that.
If you’re on a budget, wherever you look, my suggestion is to ask about synthetic diamond options. And if you want the real thing, here’s a budget-friendly option to start you off, beautiful rings starting at $300 USD – Olive Ave Jewelry, @oliveavejewelry.
If you’re still thinking “wow okay, they’re beautiful, but those are your budget-friendly suggestions?!” then check out Etsy if you haven’t already. Each of these rings featured here are under $1000. Here’s a search to get you started.
Another option for those who have a small budget with high-budget taste. Twice-Loved connects owners of pre-owned engagement rings that still have so much more life to live and beauty to share with potential buyers. Some may not like the idea of receiving a ring with a history, but I think it’s a beautiful, sustainable option that gives these rings a new life and benefits both the buyer and seller.
